Sila Arif Suleyman
Hello, My name is Sila. I have completed my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Studies with a minor in Disability studies at the Toronto Metropolitan University in Canada. During my studies I attended placements in various settings such as Daycares and Early On centers. I have also completed one of my placements at the Dubai center for special needs in the UAE. I love research and I am mostly drawn towards holistic modalities of learning and teaching
Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all- Aristotle.
My education and teaching is strongly influenced by common worlding pedagogies where my focus for early years is to enhance a child's intelligence through inspiration, imagination, curiosity and awareness. I focus on developing a child’s interpersonal, intrapersonal skills, existential and naturalistic intellect. For the core subjects I follow the UK Early year foundation stage- EYFS. Besides educational activities, I encourage story telling and play based learning. My activities are particularly designed to enhance children's imagination, their creativity and confidence. They are designed to promote independent and collaborative group work. My pedagogy is inspired by elements of Reggio Emilia and Waldorf's approach . Besides play based learning, I also incorporate nature based teaching to motivate and educate students.
